River Talk: Hassinger will perform in Durango ballet

Looking for something exciting to do this weekend?

Head on up to Durango and watch Dolores High School's Mikaela Hassinger perform in Aladdin - Story Book Ballet at the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College. The production is put on by Dance in the Rockies. Hassinger, 17, dances in the role of the Genie. She has danced since she was 2 and has danced with Dance in the Rockies, out of Durango, for five years.

Hassinger loves to dance and can often be seen twirling in the halls at Dolores High School.

"I get to express myself in ways words can't," she said.

Hassinger says she loves all styles of dance and added that the performance this weekend will be a fun time for all ages. Tickets can be purchased at www.durangoconcerts.com.

Aladdin will show at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 19.

Hassinger was born in Sacramento, grew up in Salt Lake City and moved to Mancos when she was 13 years old. She has won multiple awards for her dancing.

She's the daughter of Kris Muscari, owner of Dolores Animal Hospital, and Tim Hassinger.

The Easter egg hut in on

Break out your Easter baskets. The Town of Dolores will host its annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 19 at 10 a.m. sharp at Joe Rowell Park.

This is always a great event with plenty of eggs for everyone. Please remember that the hunt starts at 10 a.m., no matter the weather. The hunt is fast and furious, so if you are just a few minutes late, you and your little ones will miss out.

The event is divided into age groups and is graciously sponsored by the town every year.
