Don't miss a great game this weekend. Semi-professional football comes to Dolores High School this weekend. The New Mexico Miners host The Grand Junction Gladiators Saturday, April 26 at 6 p.m. at the Dolores High School Football Field. All proceeds go to the Dolores Football Team. Tickets cost $4.

This promises to be a fun event for the whole family and a great way to support the Dolores Bears.

River picking up

As the temperatures warm up, the river begins to speed up. The sleepy Dolores River is starting to roar to life this spring and peaked at around 1,500 cfs this week. That is higher than average. Let's just hope there is enough snow up there to get McPhee Reservoir back up to looking like a proper Reservoir, rather that the puddle it looks like today.

Farewell, Stuart

Stuart Hanold announced recently that he was resigning from the Dolores Chamber of Commerce and plans to devote his time to his other job: pastor at the Cortez Family Worship Center.

"I'll miss it, but I'll still be around," he said.

Hanold was the first director of the chamber, and manages the Dolores Visitors Center.

During his tenure at the Chamber, membership jumped from 55 in 2007 to 140 today.

Congratulations to Jasper Breitenbach, 13, who recently rode The Eternal Flame to a grand championship in the three-gait Western division at the Carousel Charity Horseshow in Scottsdale, Ariz.
