The town of Dolores would like to remind the public of the leash law in effect.

All dogs must be leashed within town limits, which includes all parks and the river trail. The Montezuma County Sheriff's Office issues tickets and responds to complaints. Violators are given a court summons and plead either guilty or not guilty. Fines are determined by a judge and can be up to $500.

Also, all dogs are required to be licensed, which can be done at town hall.
