Bill Lawson

Bill was born in Galesburg, Ill., to Ethel and James Lawson in 1934. He was the fifth child born in what would be seven. His dad died while working on the railroad when Bill was around five years of age. His mom, Ethel, died when he was 13. Dad lived in the YMCA and delivered telegrams and worked on farms till he was 17.

Dad was sent to Korea in the Marine Corps at 17. After he returned, he married Donna Ryan. They had twin daughters, Judy Ann and Jean Ann. Bill and Donna divorced after 13 years, and Dad moved to Las Vegas, Nev. He spent over 40 years in Vegas and retired from the Las Vegas Hilton.

He was married to Nancy Lee for over 32 years. They enjoyed their life together. Nancy died two years ago, soon after moving to Colorado.

Dad loved Colorado and being with his daughters and son-in-law who he shared many laughs and good times. Dad's grandchildren were very special to him and he was so proud of them. We will miss him forever.

He is survived by daughters, Judy Lawson of Dolores, Jean Rushing of Yellow Jacket; son-in-law, Al Rushing of Yellow Jacket; grandchildren, Jeannie Lawson of Santa Fe, N.M., Michael Beasley of Las Vegas, Nev., Kristy Rushing of Galesburg, Ill., and Matthew Rushing of Yellow Jacket.

Bill will be joining his mom and dad; his siblings, Hank, Clarice, Kenny, Eileen, Jinny and Marlene; and his wife Nancy in heaven.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being made through Ertel Funeral Home.
