Dolores groundhog Celebrate winter

The Dolores Groundhog Supper is being revived this year in Dolores. A pulled-pork dinner with all the fixins will be served Saturday, January 31, from 4:00-6:30 p.m. in honor of the Groundhog's upcoming winter prediction. The dinner will be served at the historic United Methodist Church at 105 N. 8th St.

Enjoy a meal in a building that was ordered from a Sears Catalog.

The cost is $9 per person ($5 for kids under 12). Info: Call 970-560-1390.

Fly-tying expert to give presentation

The Dolores River Anglers Chapter of Trout Unlimited will host a membership meeting and presentation by professional fly tying and fishing guide Larry Kingery from Canon City.

Larry will tie and talk about flies of the Arkansas River and other Colorado streams and rivers.

The meeting will be held downstairs at Fiesta Mexicana Monday, Jan. 26.

Meet and greet at 6 p.m., the program starts at 6:30 p.m.

Commodity Card registration is Feb. 18

A USDA Commodity Card registration is Feb. 18 for Cortez, Dolores and Mancos recipients.

One card per household is allowed. Those with multiple dwellings must bring in proof such as two electricity bills.

Applicants must bring a copy of their proof of 2015 income (to be left at the office), proof of physical address and a Social Security card for the head of household. If correct information isn't not brought, applicants won't receive a card.

Applicants must have a Dolores card to pick up commodities in Dolores.

Registration is at Dolores Community Center, 400 East Riverside Ave., 9 to 11 a.m. Those unable to register on this dates may register Wednesdays, 9-11 a.m.

Gross monthly income limits are: for one in the family, $1,800; two, $2,426; three, $3,051; four, $3,677; five, $4,303; and six, $4,929. For additional family members, add $626 per person.
