Emily Harris, daughter of Gary and Lori Harris of Dolores, and Emily Walck, daughter of Lewis and Elsie Walck of Cortez, have each won a $1,000 Local P.E.O. Chapter EV Scholarship Award.

Harris will attend Colorado Mesa University this fall, while Emily Walck will be attending Stanford University.

The P.E.O. (Philanthropic Education Organization) Sisterhood was founded in 1869 at Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant, Iowa.

This organization celebrates the educational advancement of women through scholarships, grants, awards, loans, and stewardship of Cottey College, a fully accredited liberal arts and sciences college for women in Nevada, Mo.
