Man gets 30 days on gun charge

Out of custody on a $500 bond, Maurice Nat, 23, of Cortez was sentenced to 30 days in jail with credit for time served followed by 18 months of probation and 50 hours of community service. Stemming from an incident in January, the case involves the possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. After his release, Nat could be assigned to drug court.

Man pleads guilty in domestic case

In custody on a $1,500 bond, Sheldon Shorty, 24, of Cortez, pleaded guilty to felony menacing as an act of domestic violence. The added charge was filed in connection to protection order violations and assault charges occurring since October 2014. The agreement includes a cap of three years in prison. Sentencing was set for Oct. 6.

Cortez man pleads guilty in burglary

Out of custody on a $5,000 bond, Baldimor Rubi, 52, of Cortez, pleaded guilty to a burglary charge in connection to an incident in May. The agreement includes a cap of two years in a halfway house for drug treatment. Sentencing was set for Oct. 20.

Texas extradites Cortez man

In custody on a $75,000 bond, Mark Chambers, 40, of Cortez, challenged extradition to Texas on an outstanding warrant. On Oct. 20, the court will review whether a governor’s warrant will be obtained.

Drug cases: Mancos to Dove Creek

In custody with no bond, Amanda Daves, 40, of Cortez, was re-sentenced to 18 months in prison with credit for time served after multiple failed attempts at probation. The case stems from multiple drug charges dating back to September 2013.

In custody on a $3,000 bond, Jason Gallegos, 35, of Mancos pleaded not guilty to drug possession and tampering with evidence charges stemming from an incident that occurred in March. A suppression motion, citing authorities made an illegal traffic stop, has been filed, and a hearing on the defense claim was set for Sept. 29. A trial date was set for Jan. 4.

In custody on a $1,000 bond, David Lyons, 24, of Cortez was granted a continuance on a drug possession charge stemming from an incident that occurred in July.

A new arraignment was set for Sept. 10.

Out of custody on a $1,500 bond, Bruce Seagrave, 41, of Dove Creek was granted a continuance after arguing that he needed to care for an autistic child. A new sentencing date was set for Sept. 10. The drug case stems from an incident that occurred in November 2014.

Warrant issued for Dolores man

A no-bond bench warrant was issued for Armando Paredes, 20, of Dolores, after he failed to appear for a revocation hearing. He was placed on probation last fall after pleading guilty to assault of an at-risk victim in connection to an incident that occurred in October 2013.
