1975 Hunting Seasons Set

Pending a review of the length of seasons and bag limits by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Colorado Wildlife Commission has tentatively approved waterfowl seasons for 1975 that are more liberal than last years.

At its August meeting in Denver, the Commission okayed a split season for ducks on both sides of the Continental Divide with the season in the Central Flyway lasting 23 days longer than last year.

Dr. Hathaway Elected to Case Council

Dr. J. D. Hathaway, superintendent of Dolores School District RE4A has recently been nominated and elected to serve on the Executive Council of the Colorado Association of School Executives for this school year. He received the honor while attending the CASE meeting earlier this month in denver. Ten members serve on this council out of 660 members. He is the only one from this area on the Council.

Football Season Starts With Black and White Game Friday

A Black and White intra-squad game will see the Dolores Bears football squad on the field for the first time this fall at 7:30 p.m. on Friday night, Aug. 29.

Admission to the game will be a bar of soap per person or a towel for a couple.

Local Student at Honors Conference

A student from Dolores has returned after attending the three-day High School Honors Institute of Engineering at the University of Colorado College of Engineering and Applied Science. Attending from Dolores High School was Elaine Carrigan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Carrigan.

Fight and Break In Bring County Sheriff

The Montezuma County Sheriff Department responded to a call to the Stoner Lodge Saturday evening about 7:30. The call was to a fight in progress. No further details were released.

Also the Sheriff's Department was called to Dolores upon the discovery of a break in that had occurred sometimes late Saturday night or early Sunday morning in the Dolores Loggers Supply.

Attend Wedding in California

Mr. Lois Rash, Mrs. Judy Martin, and Penny and Bill left by bus from Gallup, New Mex. for Atwater, Calif. on the 13th of August to visit with Mrs. Carol Simmons and family and to attend the wedding of Carol's son Randy Simmons and Miss Karen Reyburn at the Baptist Church in Merced, Calif. on the 16th of August.

SW Cowbelles News

Twenty-two members of the Southwestern Cowbelles and their families attended the potluck picnic at the Suckla cow camp at Beaver August 19th. The meeting was called to order by President Annie Hinton. It was announced that there will be two brand quilts for the raffle this year. The quilts will be given away at the annual State Cattlemen's Meeting in February.
